Amanda Spottiswoode immigrated to Canada from England in the 1970s and settled on SS Island in 1995. As a child, she was taught to sail by the Royal Navy on the River Thames. On SS Island, she realized her childhood dream of sailing and exploring a rugged coastline by boat. Betty Taylor creates charming Christmas decorations, hand felted from Salt Spring wool; soft delightful dolls, perfect for little ones, and other beautifully handmade gifts.
Britney Oswell is a Salt Spring raised basket maker. She is a keen student of the endless varieties and interpretations that the art form takes, as ancient and primary as it is. Her baskets are woven using locally harvested and grown materials, and are a continuing attempt at honouring the abundance, beauty and exquisite balance between the form and function of the natural world.
